I do agree with the observations made in this article. Indeed many researchers have
adopted qualitative approaches in their studies. The most important thing to know is that these
types of qualitative approaches are applicable in different situations. They also have some
limitations and this requires researchers to beware of this. The major qualitative approaches
include grounded theory, phenomenology, narrative, formal case study, and ethnographic. These
methods even though, require telling and retelling of story, some of them such as
phenomenological and formal case studies, and ethnographic are most utilized in various
researches because they apply theory to practice (Steffen, 2014). DBA research focuses on
problem identification and analysis hence, these are important when doing or carrying out a
study that intends to address a business problem. These qualitative approaches are therefore,
helpful in finding real solutions to problems.

The article is precise and provides an overview of various qualitative approaches.
Researches may use different approaches on qualitative research. Indeed, reasons of using these
approaches do vary. Apart from providing a criticism, these approaches as well are essential in
providing in-depth analysis of various situations in real situations. The major qualitative
approaches researchers mostly use range from action research, case study, historical, grounded,

ethnographic, and phenomenological. For instance, phenomenological studies allow people or
participants to give their own accounts (Faranda, 2015). The benefits of using this research
design are that the researcher gets the actions through observation or through interviews
enhancing the level of credibility and objectivity. However, this research approaches requires the
researcher to beware of instances of misleading information from respondents. Generally, I am
contented with the brief explanation of these methods; however, it would be insightful if the
author had delved in depth on the drawbacks and advantage of each of these approaches.
