Classroom management is an important part of any learning environment for students
within a classroom setting. In this current age, teachers have the responsibilities of creating
classroom management systems that communicate information to the students in the learning
process. A class setting requires the teacher to take full responsibility in guiding student’s actions
while instituting learning. Content of the learning will be approached by students differently
depending on the environment cultivated by the teacher. There should be a correlation between
instructional activities and management to reinforce the nature of a class environment and
curriculum.

Analysis of Case Study 1

This study reveals a class setting of 20 students with great academic and social skills
levels. It is evident from the teacher that some of the students are good in some areas while other
are slow in grasping knowledge. In the class setting, there are some problems that are connected
to conduct, that distract learning. In this case, Sarah has a problem sitting and constantly wonders
around the class thus distracting the class. Other students seem to buy her character and in turn
also wonder around the classroom. In this case, Sarah’s conduct seems to destruct other students
and also causes them to follow his trend.
According to Sayeski and Brown, the antecedent for this behavior may be caused by the
classroom space, organization, and arrangement. Seyeski and Brown argue that though physical
space arrangement in a class setting may not have an impact on student’s achievement, it may
affect their overt behavior. This may be the result of Sarah’s actions in class (Sayeski, & Brown,
2014). Sarah may be seated in a teacher blind spot that makes monitoring difficult for the
teacher.

Mitigating this problem may require a twofold approach. First, the teacher has to
approach Sarah and point out the problem behavior and explain to her how it is interfering with
the normal class schedules. The teacher should inform her of the academic task she should be
engaged in and give her the opportunity to explain her actions. The teacher should also politely
offer Sarah the choice of making an improvement in her behavior (Sayeski, & Brown, 2014).
Approaching the student in this manner reduces the likelihood of her continuing with her actions.
Secondly, the teacher has to find a solution to poor spacing in a class setting. A proper
arrangement that allows every student in any position of the room to be able to interact with easy
with the teacher is essential. When these approaches are applied, the student is likely to feel
incorporated in the class activities, giving the student in question the opportunity to concentrate
in class (Jones, Bailey, & Jacob, 2014). When an appropriate setting is also incorporated, the
student will be able to comfortably participate in a class dialog, with the teacher having the
opportunity to make eye contacts with everyone and encourage participation.

Self-management
My philosophy on self-management requires that a teacher should incorporate both the
internal and external activities children can participate in to increase or decrease the chances of
appropriate behaviors that occur in a class setting. In the case of Sarah, a behavior modification
approach that is solely based on Self-management should be introduced. This is likely to enable
her manage her behavior rather than wait for some form of external controls from the teacher to
help in managing her actions (Jones, Bailey, & Jacob, 2014).

Self-efficacy
This concept infers to a cognitive dynamic that associated a teacher’s health and well
being, also incorporating their performances. This approach helps a teacher to develop the
capability to accomplishing and achieving a set level of performance (Jones, Bailey, & Jacob,
2014). The teacher needs to incorporate all his cognitive functions such as self-concept and
esteem in any class setting in order to achieve results.
Student engagement and motivation
It is essential that children are engaged in the learning process. This can be achieved
when the students participate in class activities and are motivated in a school environment.
Children are believed to have different psychological needs that would encourage them to
participate in the learning process. These needs should be addressed.

In creating an emotionally safe environment for all the students, the teacher needs to
consider that elementary school students are continually exposed to a constant surge of sensory
experiences that incorporates all their senses. Their brains according to Kurt take images, sounds,
the surrounding, feelings, and tastes to create an internal image of the world. With this
knowledge, it is important to teachers to value this children and their worth.
Such an environment should view failure as a normal part of learning and encourage
students to constantly work hard. When an institution does not achieve academic goals are, the
children are not supposed to be blamed for this (Kurt, 2014). Emotionally safe classrooms should

allow the children to connect with teachers and groups that value, celebrate and support them as
an equal part of the school community.

Technology in Learning

Classroom technology should be a teacher’s tool. Educational institutions should keep in
mind the happenings in the society, and use technology in learning and teaching. Teaching in this
sense should incorporate the use of technology to harness teaching (Kurt, 2014). Schools should
introduce the use of computer software’s in the process of learning. The use of audio and visual
tools in learning is also essential in the process of enhancing learning in an institution.
Schools should strive towards incorporating technology in learning. Lecture notes should
be recorded to enable the students to download and listen to them. Some students are believed to
learn well when the use of technology is introduced in learning (Ritz, Noltemeyer, Davis, &
Green 2014). Being creative in class too is essential since it adds more value to the process of
learning. This can be incorporated by using some visual and audio aids in learning. Students
should be allowed to use their laptops or tablets to school to enable them take more notes.
Teachers should also focus on students who have interest on music and other areas and
also incorporate appropriate learning methods to meet these needs. Students should be also given
the opportunity to engage with different ideas that challenge their mentalities (Ritz et.al 2014).
Teacher engagements are also essential in a learning institution. Students should be motivated to
learning irrespective of their performances. In the instance of Sarah, irrespective of her actions,
when motivation is included, she would desire to change her behaviors.

Conclusion

Classroom management tactics should incorporate aspects of respect and understanding if
success is to come out of them. Students become responsible for environments that nature and
promote respect towards everyone. Teachers, therefore, have the task of creating conducive
environments that promote learning and classroom management.
